This 1969 Jeepster Commando is an orange and black build set up for off-road use, powered by a 350 V8 and sitting on 35-inch mud tires. Jeepster Commandos were originally offered with four- and six-cylinder power, so the V8 swap is the biggest change from the factory layout and the foundation for the rest of the build.
The 350 is dressed with an Edelbrock Performer EPS intake manifold, Edelbrock air cleaner, and Edelbrock valve covers, with a Meziere water pump and Allstar performance power steering supporting it. Exhaust is a true dual system with Flowmaster mufflers. Power goes through a TH350 automatic with a transmission cooler, and 4.56 gears are there to turn the tall tires. It is a sensible combination for a lightweight, short-wheelbase Jeep that needs low-end torque more than top speed.
The chassis and running gear follow the same logic. Up front is a TeraFlex Dana 40 with DTS and front lockers, paired with power disc brakes to help manage the added power and tire size. The 35-inch AMP mud tires are mounted on 17-inch wheels, and a full-size spare is included. A Warn VR8 Evo winch is mounted to a custom front bumper, and lighting has been upgraded throughout with LED halo headlights, an LED lightbar, and LED fog lights.
Inside, the Jeepster is finished with Procar black bucket seats and a Grant steering wheel. Equus gauges with red backlighting cover oil pressure, water temperature, volts, and fuel, so the driver has the engine’s key readings in view. The canvas top keeps the open-air character of the original design, and an aftermarket AM/FM radio is installed. It is a good fit for a buyer who wants a vintage Jeep with a V8, real recovery gear, and a drivetrain built around the tire size.
